About the community
A warm welcome to #Wandersteine (das Org.). In our friendly community, we paint stones in bright colours and leave them out solely to bring a smile to those who find them and make the world more colourful. Since the group was founded in May 2019, the group has grown into Germany’s largest stone group.
What should you do after finding one?
First, enjoy the stone. Then photograph its front and back and upload the pictures with the date and location where it was found, as well as any initials and postcode; the artist will be delighted. If you fall in love with a stone and would like to keep it, you may. Otherwise, take it part of the way with you and leave it in a new place so that it can bring joy to the next finder.
Perhaps the idea will inspire you so much that you begin painting stones yourself. You can find guidance in the InfoGuides. But be warned: it is highly addictive! 😉
The group's rules
- 1. To protect the environment, nothing may be glued to stones, because googly eyes and similar pieces quickly fall off. The decoupage technique, however, is not a problem. Cast stones, notes, and bags must likewise not be left out. Apply at least 2 coats of varnish; nail polish and hairspray are unsuitable.
- 2. Self-promotion, including advertising and links to other groups, is prohibited, as are spam and off-topic links or posts. Agree all donation appeals and campaigns, including requests for stone donations, with the admin team before posting them.
- 3. Stones must not be left in places including the following:
- dangerous locations, such as beside or in bodies of water, on cliffs, by power lines, near roads, and so on, as this can endanger finders;
- places where dogs urinate or where a stone could cause damage;
- shops or museums, private property, or other people’s graves;
- rubbish bins.
- 4. Each stone artist is responsible for their own designs, particularly with regard to copyright. Neither the Wandersteine-Team nor other group members are liable for them.
- 5. The sale of travelling stones is not desired. Memorial stones are the only exception; we close the comments on relevant posts. Arrange everything else by private message.
- 6. If you have questions, please use the group’s search function first.
- 7. Political designs, logos, and so on are not tolerated, nor are political discussions.
- 8. Posts from the group may be shared only with the permission of their respective creator.
- 9. Hate speech is prohibited. Derogatory comments based on ethnicity, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender, or identity are NOT tolerated and result in immediate removal.
- 10. The admins and moderation team reserve the right to intervene when rules are broken.
The group is happy to help with questions; simply send us a private message. Enjoy the group—and get painting those stones!
