How does the game work?
In the Bessin area and its surroundings, painted pebbles bearing their artists’ signatures are hidden for you to find. A photo of the pebble, a wider view of the hiding place, and the name of the town or village serve as clues.
After finding it, the seeker photographs the pebble to notify the page, then puts it back in its hiding place. You may, however, adopt it and take it with you if you replace it with 1 new, attractive pebble. First tell the group about the exchange: send a photo of the pebble you found, say that you are keeping it, then share a photo of the new pebble and the place where it can be found. If you simply move the find to a new hiding place, similarly photograph the pebble and its new location.
Who can play?
All children and everyone who is still young at heart can take part in “Trouve mon Galet 14.” Invite your neighbour, teacher, dance teacher, friend, mother, uncle, childminder, or anyone else: all they need to do is follow and like the trouvemongalet14 page.
If you are still a child, your parents’ permission is essential. Depending on your age, it is better to have an adult with you. If you are old enough to go out without an adult, it is strongly recommended that you search with at least one friend: never go alone.
There is no residency requirement. Although the game takes place in the Bessin area and its surroundings, everyone is welcome, wherever they come from.
Who paints and hides the pebbles?
Each participant may decorate and hide one or more pebbles as they wish, provided they follow the initial rules. They photograph their creation and its hiding place, then provide one or more clues via whatSapp in the dedicated group.
Where can you find pebbles to decorate?
They can be found almost anywhere, especially in the forest, near the trout trail, on paths alongside fields and meadows, or in the river. Always make sure that the stone does not already serve a specific purpose, such as decoration in an ornamental or wildlife garden.
What size and shape should you choose?
Choose a smooth pebble, which is easier to colour, then wash it and let it dry before decorating it. If it is too small, it will be difficult to decorate and hard to spot; if it is too large, it will take a long time and be difficult to carry. The right size fits in your hand.
