About the community
On my travels, I often discover beautiful stones that then gather dust in a drawer. In Scotland, however, I found a painted stone that has accompanied me ever since.
There, people decorate stones together and leave them somewhere to brighten other people’s day, make them smile and perhaps encourage them to join in. We all know stone painting from childhood. Anyone can do it: simply dip little fingers in paint and dab a stone, or be able to hold a pen or brush. Just take part—with your children’s first creations, poetry, landscapes, mandalas or something entirely different. There are no limits to the imagination.
Use paints and pens and seal your works of art. Please do not add any extra decorations; the group does not want to feed wildlife plastic eyes, pipe-cleaner tails or anything similar. The back should bear an FB reference and the group name so finders can join the group.
Photograph your stone and release it, perhaps on a park bench, at a rest area, along the route to school, in a knothole, at home or while travelling. Afterwards, post a picture here and say that you have left it out. For a little more excitement, you can give a rough indication of where.
Not every finder has or likes Facebook, and some stones will undoubtedly disappear from our view. But if the finder enjoys it, the stone is not lost.
When a member finds one, be sure to photograph the front and back and tell us where you discovered the stone and whether you are leaving it there, keeping it or letting it travel a little farther and releasing it again.
Stone sales and commercial advertising are not welcome here.
Regards
Carla
