About the community
A warm welcome to “DormaStones”! The idea, now known almost worldwide, is straightforward: we want to spread joy and make people smile. To do this, we collect and paint stones and then release them. A finder photographs the stone, posts it here along with the place where it was found, and leaves it again in another location. Of course, they may also keep it as a lucky charm.
Please keep a few points in mind:
- Do NOT glue ANYTHING to the stones, as this could harm the environment and animals.
- Do not place stones on cars or other vehicles.
- Do not use private property unless you know the owner.
- Stones may not be left in public buildings or shops of any kind.
- Commercial advertising must be relevant to the subject and agreed with the admins in advance.
- Licensed designs such as Disney characters or football logos occupy a legal grey area. Although they may be painted or copied for purely private use, even stones that are not for sale are displayed through posts in a public group. Please therefore avoid such designs in future.
The back should bear the group name “DormaStones”, the Facebook symbol and a note such as “find, post, enjoy, release again”.
If you discover a DormaStone, please post pictures of the front and back and state where it was found. The stone snake exists alongside the travelling stones; only add your own hand-painted stones to it.
Stones other than DormaStones do not belong here, but in this group:

This means you do not need to join every individual group, only this one, which then forwards the stones.
You can post stones WITHOUT another group’s identification here:

Painting tips: Acrylic pens and acrylic paints from tubes work best. Afterwards, preferably seal the paint several times with water-based clear varnish. Otherwise, even paints labelled waterproof may unfortunately dissolve in the rain.
Finally, we ask all members to treat one another with consideration.
