About the community
The idea for this group came from 918 Rocks!, a Facebook community the group’s family heard about while Mom and Dad were visiting Oklahoma. There, children and adults paint stones and leave them around the area for others to discover. Since the group could not find anything similar locally, the group decided to start the group’s own version and hope everyone has fun helping it grow.
Guidelines and suggestions
- Rocks may be hidden around the community.
- Ask permission before using a business or private property, and always be considerate.
- After a find, post a picture and say whether you will keep the rock or hide it somewhere else.
- A clear protective coat is recommended to preserve the artwork.
- Add the local area code so the stone can be recognised as one of ours.
- Members may include an uplifting message such as “Love”, “Faith”, “Beautiful” or “You are amazing” to brighten the finder’s day.
- Writing 530 Rock Hunt on the back can help people locate the page and expand the game.
- If you keep a discovery, consider painting and hiding a replacement so the sharing continues; inspirational stones are especially welcome.
- Give only a general clue rather than revealing the exact hiding place.
- Members can photograph the stone in its setting, provided the image does not disclose the precise location.
Above all, enjoy yourself.
